Combining Moodle and Redmine as e-learning tools in Project Based Learning of Industrial Electronics

Abstract— This paper reports on the application of the
Project Based Learning (PBL) methodology in the teaching of
Electronics Instrumentation to undergraduate students using as
e-learning platforms the well-known Moodle framework and
Redmine, a project management web application. In this PBL
implementation each student group develops a different
measurement or data acquisition project over the course of an
entire academic term, maintaining customer-provider
relationships with other groups. In this context, Redmine
complements Moodle by providing dynamic time tracking and
task management capabilities. In addition PBL is enriched by
introducing the students to the use of a project management
application.
